I meant to do a series of 'Spring Palette' posts a few weeks ago but, as always with blogging, real life gets in the way, apparently stuff like full time work, washing and general adult stuff has to take priority...whatevs.
So I'm starting off with lips and am making a promise to myself to do blush and nails for this week too so look out for those!
Disclaimer - this is probably the loooooongest post in the history of beauty blogs but I really wanted you to get an accurate idea of how these lipsticks look as well as apply - hope it's helpful, it took me bloody ages!
These gorgeous tubes of happiness will be mostly what I'm wearing this Spring even if it does insist on pissing it down everyday!
So let's start from the top and go clockwise shall we?!
Topshop Lipstick in Charmed
I'll start off by saying I loooooove Topshop lipsticks. The formula and constantly evolving choice of shades really puts them on par with MAC for me. I'm steadily building up a collection and this is my latest addition. Now in the tube the colour looks quite bright but it comes out more like a nude with an apricot wash. I'm not massively into nudes as it's quite hard to find ones that suit my skintone and don't look too chalky so this is probably the closest I'm gona get to a 'go-to' Spring nude.
Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti
I don't think I need to say much about this as I won;t stop banging on about it! This is perfect for an everyday colour. It's sheer but quite pigmented so really makes a statement without being too, woah orange lips! I reallt love the formulas of the lip butters and really cannot fault them!
MAC Cremesheen in Lavender Whip
This is a bit naughty as it's a limited edish colour from the Cream Cup collection a few years ago but I really love it as an alternative 'nude'. Like I say beigey toned nudes are abit tricky on me so I'm always looking for alternatives and really love to sport a nude with a difference. So I know I said it's limited edish BUT have I got a dupe for you! In the form of Barry M 129, so if you fancy flirting with lavender there's no excuse!
Revlon Matte Lipstick in Smoked Peach
This is similar to the Topshop Charmed lipstick only a matte version. Now when I hear matte I immediately think dry, flaky lip in need of Palmers Coco Lip Butter STAT! But that is the beauty of this lipstick, really moisturising and applies so easily, no snagging those flakey lips here. The only thing is, as it is matte it's worth getting abit of balm action just so you have an extra smooth surface to apply. I usually pat it in a bit to just to help it look flawless.
MAC Frost in Heroine
This is another limited edish from the MAC Wonderwoman collection, please forgive me! The reason I'm showing you this is because I think bronze lipsticks are massively underrated and while we're on the subject, I also think MAC frost finishes are massively underrated! They're usually people's least favourite but I think in high summer, the golden, metallic sheen they have is such a gorgeous finish and another alternative to a regular shimmer finish as I really think they add depth to the lip rather than just flat colour. Coz I'm so good to you I also have a dupe for this one which is MAC Fetish, defo got my good eye on that one.
Sisley Phyto Lip Shine in Sheer Coral
I've saved the best for last. I could've done a post dedicated entirely to this lipstick as it's just so beautiful! Now it's pretty pricey at £26.50 but I had to include it as it's a mix of all my favourite things. Beautifully packaged (I die for the suede holder), sheer, slightly metallic and coral! It's a mix between a lipstick and a lip gloss and this is my MUST HAVE colour for Spring and definitely high summer, the formula is perfect, which you'd expect at £26.50, really moisturising and last really well. Not to mention how obnoxious I feel whipping this out on the number 26 to Hackney Wick.
So what are your fav lipsticks for Spring, any I should know about?
Until the next post!
Love, love, love,
